Sea Burial Chemnitz

As an alternative to the traditional types of burial, there is the possibility of burial at sea. In the case of burial at sea, the urn of the deceased is transferred to the sea.

The burial takes place in specially designated areas of the sea and the urn should be made of a water-soluble material, such as salt stone or cellulose. When the urn then dissolves in the water, the ashes of the deceased are dispersed in the sea, so that the deceased symbolically becomes a part of the sea. This is a beautiful concept, especially for people with a special connection to the sea, to become a part of the element they loved so much during their lifetime after their death. The eulogy is usually delivered by the captain. The position of the place of occupation is recorded in a ship's logbook.

If desired, the relatives can receive an excerpt from the ship's logbook or a certificate with the exact coordinates as a memento. A burial at sea is possible, for example, in the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Atlantic Ocean or the Mediterranean Sea.
